dc.description.abstract | African swine fever (ASF), as an acute viral disease of Suidae and as relevantfactor influencing profitability of pork production, focuses particular attentionof scientists, vets and farmers worldwide. Years of the epidemiologicalresearch on the African swine fever virus (ASFV), provided lots of more orless effective biosecurity measures designed to control spreading of thevirus. Many animal species have been analyzed regarding to the potentialof disease transmission, for example rats, insects or ticks. The aim of thisarticle is the analysis of the current knowledge about ASFV transmission bysoft and hard ticks according to the results of scientific research. The mostimportant conclusion is the fact, that in contrast to soft ticks (Ornithodoros),which are commonly present in Africa and South Europe, there is no riskof the virus transmission by hard ticks (Ixodes ricinus and Dermacentorreticulates). | |
